Eadha

Eadha, meaning endurance, is a sourdough bakery worker co-operative in Winnipeg’s West End. SEED worked with Cora Wiens to develop a sole proprietorship selling bread at farmers’ markets and through a bread share program in 2016. Cora established a storefront in the West End, which helped to expand the business and menu.

Eadha is committed to Community Economic Development principles and building a stronger community. The bakery hosts pizza fundraisers in support of local organizations and offers a pay-it-forward voucher program where customers with extra funds can pre-purchase bakery goods and coffee for community members who could not otherwise afford it.

Eadha operates under a queer, anti-racist, and de-colonial mandate, and strives to provide staff with a living wage and benefits. In service of this mission, Eadha began working with SEED in 2021 to transition into a worker co-operative and officially re-launched as Eadha Bakery Co-op in 2023 with six worker-owners.
