Truth and Reconciliation

Land Acknowledgement

SEED respectfully acknowledges that we live and work on the territories and homeland of Indigenous peoples and that the land and water sustain us. We respect the treaties as intended by Indigenous peoples. It is our responsibility to understand the truth of our history, be aware of the present and work with Indigenous peoples to make positive changes for the future.

Strategic Priorities

SEED is committed to working in partnership with Indigenous community members and organizations to reduce the ongoing impact of colonization by acting on the Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, with a specific focus on Call to Action 92, and the Calls for Justice for All Canadians (Calls 15.1-15.8) by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

In the 2023–2028 Strategic Plan, SEED committed to the following objectives:

  • Provide learning opportunities and experiences for staff, board members, and participants to increase their understanding of Indigenous history, current realities, and culture.
  • Strengthen the recruitment and retention of Indigenous program participants, staff, and board members.
  • Develop sustainable models for culturally grounded programming and partnerships with Indigenous communities and Indigenous-led organizations.
  • Incorporate reconciliation and bridge building initiatives between Indigenous and newcomer participants into program delivery.
  • Support and amplify advocacy on Indigenous issues by Indigenous-led organizations and community networks.
